Privacy
Last updated 27 September 2026. Moi is in a small private test with family and friends, and this page may change as it grows. We’ll tell you in the app if anything important changes.
The short version
Your recordings and stories belong to you. They’re kept safe and private in Australia, and nobody else sees them unless you choose to share. You can delete a recording, or your whole account, at any time from the app.
What Moi keeps
- Your email address, so you can sign in. We send you a sign-in code; there’s no password to remember.
- Your recordings, the written-out words, and the stories made from them.
- Your choices, like which topics you’ve picked and what you’ve said yes or no to.
- Basic records of what happened and when (for example “a story was drafted”), without the words themselves, so we can keep things running and fix problems.
Where it’s kept
Everything is stored in Australia, encrypted, on servers we rent for Moi. Recordings travel to our servers over a secure connection.
Computer helpers
If you say yes in your privacy choices, a computer helper writes out your recordings, and another helps shape them into story drafts and now and then suggests a gentle follow-up question. They work in Australia on our behalf, only to do this for you, and they aren’t allowed to use your recordings or words to train their systems. You can turn either of them off at any time, and you always check the words before anything goes in your book or is shared.
Who can see your stories
Only you, unless you invite someone. A helper you invite can see only what you choose to share with them. We don’t sell your information, show you ads, or share your stories with anyone else.
Deleting things
You can delete a recording, or your whole account, from the app. It’s removed from Moi straight away. We keep backup copies for up to 90 days in case something goes wrong, so a deletion is complete everywhere within 90 days. We only use backups to recover from a fault.
